Final parenting order — appointment of additional guardians — Care of Children Act 2004, ss 4, 5, 6, 19 and 29 — V v Department of Social Welfare [1998] 16 FRNZ 522. A final parenting order was made returning the child to the day-to-day care of her father (V considered). The father was not a guardian under New Zealand law due to an anomaly between Australian and New Zealand law, and so was appointed a guardian under s 19. The applicant, who had cared for the child for the previous two years, was appointed an additional guardian under s 29. **Note: names have been changed to comply with legal requirements.
