Application for adjournment — dissolution of marriage — interim order — global pandemic — COVID-19 — Family Proceedings Act 1980, s 42(4). The parties were involved in proceedings for the dissolution of their marriage. An interim order granting dissolution had been made, but subsequently the respondent made an application to adjourn the proceedings before a final order could be made. His claimed reason for seeking an adjournment was that he was unable to attend the hearing as he was unable to travel from Australia due to the global pandemic. The Judge rejected this submission, noting that the criteria for granting a dissolution of marriage had been satisfied, namely, that the parties had lived apart for two years. The Judge declined to grant the adjournment. Judgment Date: 19 November 2020.
