The victim was his partner, who he had trapped inside the house for several hours during the offending. Aggravating features included strangulation in the context of a domestic relationship, threats to kill, and causing the victim to lose consciousness. The Court set a start point of three years six months on the lead offence, and uplifted this by three months for the rest of the offending and another five months for previous offending.
