The defendant's bags were subject to a search, during which 2.2 kilograms of cocaine was found . The drugs were valued between $750,000 to $1,197,000. The court noted that the defendant did not display any remorse and justified his actions as a necessary response to financial issues he was facing. The defendant was given a discount for his guilty plea, reductions for previous good character and co-operation and was sentenced to eight years and three months' imprisonment.
