Sentencing — arson — Crimes Act 1961, s 267 — Sentencing Act 2002. Defendant sentenced to two years and three months’ imprisonment for a charge of arson. Reductions made on starting point of three years’ imprisonment for defendant’s guilty plea, remorse, relative youth and active participation in anger management and rehabilitation programmes. Option of home detention was not open as only a sentence of imprisonment could appropriately deter such a serious crime.
