Parenting order — day-to-day care — contact — additional guardian — grandparent applicant — Care of Children Act 2004. The applicant grandmother sought day-to-day care of her grandchildren as well as appointment as an additional guardian. The respondent parents of the children were unable to care for them due to issues of safety (both physical and psychological), especially in relation to their mother's drug use and criminal offending. The parents had taken no part in the proceedings. As the children had been in their grandmother's care for some time, the Judge had no trouble making a final parenting order placing them in her day-to-day care. Contact was to occur with their parents as agreed by the parents and the applicant. The grandmother was also appointed as an additional guardian of the children. Judgment Date: 23 January 2019. * * * Note: names have been changed to comply with legal requirements. * * *
