Sentencing — aggravated robbery — R v Mako [2000] 2 NZLR 170 (CA) — Hessell v R [2010] NZSC 135, [2011] 1 NZLR 607. The defendant was sentenced to two years and nine months’ imprisonment on two charges of aggravated robbery. The tariff case “Mako” set the starting point for sentencing at five years, with discounts received for youth, previous good record and guilty plea (Hessell).
