Published 28 September 2016
Dishonesty offending — review of sentence — Sentencing. The defendant was sentenced on five fraud charges to two years and one month’s
imprisonment. The defendant’s criminal history was noted as having over 400 previous
convictions for fraud offending.
An application for review of a home detention sentence imposed at a different date was
granted. The home detention sentence was reviewed, and the community work was cancelled. Given the time that had been spent on community work for those charges, the defendant was convicted and sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment to be served concurrently.
