Importing methamphetamine — conspiring to supply methamphetamine — possession of methamphetamine — sentencing — R v Fatu  2 NZLR 72 (CA) — R v Wong  NZCA 332 — Obiaga v R  NZCA 270. The defendant was sentenced to eleven years and six months' imprisonment on charges of importing a Class A controlled drug (methamphetamine) and conspiring to supply a Class A drug. A three month concurrent sentence was given on a charge of possession of methamphetamine. Almost two kilograms of the drug was found during the search, with a street value of approximately $2 million. With reference to "Fatu", "Wong" and "Obiaga", a starting point of 15 years' imprisonment was determined. Reductions were made for the defendant's guilty plea and previous good character.
